Treatment
Orthopaedics & joint replacement
Pain in the knee, hip or shoulder can stop you walking, working and sleeping. Orthopaedic surgeons in India review your X-rays and MRI and tell you whether physiotherapy, an injection, keyhole surgery or a joint replacement is the right option.
Conditions we can help with
- Knee and hip arthritis
- Ligament, meniscus and cartilage injuries
- Shoulder problems, including rotator cuff tears
- Avascular necrosis of the hip
- Bone deformities in children and adults
- Fractures that have not healed well
Treatments and procedures
- Total and partial knee replacement
- Total hip replacement
- Revision of a previous joint replacement
- Arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction
- Shoulder replacement and repair
- Limb lengthening and deformity correction
Availability of a technique depends on the hospital and on your case.
Your journey
How it usually goes
- 1
Send recent X-rays (and MRI if you have one) with a short description of your pain and walking.
- 2
The surgeon gives an opinion and, if surgery is advised, an estimate.
- 3
Pre-operative tests on arrival, then surgery.
- 4
Physiotherapy starts very early, often the day after surgery.
- 5
You go home with an exercise plan to continue with a local physiotherapist.
How long you may stay in India
As general guidance: for a knee or hip replacement, a total stay in India of about two to three weeks is common, including the hospital stay and the first days of physiotherapy. Keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery usually needs about a week. The surgeon confirms this for your case.
General guidance only. Every case is different, and the hospital gives its own estimate for you.
